How to change the Send Mail From in Gmail

For those of you who wanted to know how you can change the “from” email in your Gmail email account, I am here to try my very best to explain it for you.

There’s some posts that are easy for me to write and then there’s ones like this one, where I spend more time backspacing then actually typing!  So bare with me here if things seem out of sorts….lol.

It might be better just to watch the step by step video tutorial on this one, so I’ll leave the video right here at the top.  (If at anytime during the video you need or want to, just click pause so you can follow along.)

And now for the written step by step instructions….Log in to your account, then click the “Settings” icon on the top right, then from the drop down menu click on Settings. It will look like this:

Once you click on  Settings you’ll want to click on ” Accounts and Import ” then click on Add another email address you own.

Put in your name and the new email address; click NEXT STEP.

It will then ask if you want to Send mail through your SMTP server?

To keep things easy, don’t change a thing! Just click NEXT STEP.

You should see the page that tells you to verify your email address.  Simply click on the SEND VERIFICATION button to do this.

You will need to login to that email account so you can copy and paste the confirmation code that Gmail sends to you or click on the link in the email.

Ways to Build a Following for Free

Whether you are trying to monetize your blog, share information, build a list, or all of these you will need to attract a following. More traffic means more page views and more viewers.  This is what most bloggers have problems with.

So how do you build a following to your blog for free?

It can be quite simple, really! You just have to be consistent and (of course) follow my blog for new or updated blogging secrets.  I am always adding new tips and tricks that you don’t want to miss out on!

Here are some ways that you can build a following for your blog without spending any money:

Enable Comments

I know you are probably asking yourself, “Who doesn’t allow comments on their blogs??” but you’d be surprised how many blogs don’t. Enabling comments makes your blog be more interactive.  It gives you a way to communicate with your readers and for them communicate with one another.  This is important for building a blog community, because readers will feel like they are part of something.  As the blog administrator, don’t forget to comment on new comments yourself.  Make it easy to log in without having to subscribe to your blog, and you will see more people contributing to the conversation.  Another way to keep people commenting is to use the CommentLuv plugin.  It automatically adds a titled link at the end of the comment which links back to the their latest blog post.  Don’t have this plugin yet?  Click here to download it.

Social Media

Social media just might be the easiest way for you to build a following for your blog.  Facebook and Twitter are free and virtually effortless tools to attract more readers. Just like your blog, you will want to be sure to update these sites often.  If you are promoting your Twitter or Facebook accounts and your reader decides to follow you – which is what you want them to do – and when they get there they see it has been 2 months since you posted anything there, they may think that you don’t update information in your blog either. Use social media as a way to brand your blog; create a Twitter account that notifies readers when you add a new article or feature, and start a Facebook Fan Page that will highlight your readership. Let your readers do the work for you. With Twitter, people can easily retweet your tweets, which builds a bigger following. With Facebook, people can invite others to become a “fan,” which also reaches out to a bigger audience than you would have been able to do alone. Be sure to set up these profiles to the max.  This is what everyone will see when they visit them.

Videos

You can easily pump up traffic with videos.  Don’t worry…you don’t have to a full body shot video.  You really don’t need to show yourself at all if you don’t want to.  The main thing is, is that you make a video about your post.  Either explaining it more in detail or by showing them a how to use or do something with step by step instructions.  People love it when you make it as easy and pain free as possible for them.  If you don’t have a video for them to watch, they will most likely go search for one to help them if they need it.  All you are doing is giving this other person traffic.  Keep the traffic for you, or if you have someone you work with closely online you can help one another by sending each other traffic to their blog posts/videos.

Guest Posts

You will have to invest some time in doing this, but in the end it will be well worth it as writing a guest post is an invaluable tool to increasing traffic.  You can add backlinks to your blog which can draw brand new visitors to your website.  If the new visitors like what they see, they’ll come back and will mostly likely share it with others.  Also, by writing informative articles for another blog, you can establish yourself as an expert in your field.  Just be sure to find a blog that provides information about a similar topic, and contact the blog author to see if they allow guest bloggers.  There are many that do, and if they don’t now they most likely will. It never hurts to ask!

There’s many more ways to for you to build a following for free, but this should keep you busy for a little while.

If you have ever posted a comment on either one of my blogs, you may have noticed a little check box and icon under the submit or post comment button that says “CommentLuv”.

What is CommentLuv and why do I have it installed?

CommentLuv is a WordPress plugin that gives a blog more functionality.  There are many WordPress plugins which allow you to do pretty much anything from optimizing your blog to modifying how your  pictures are displayed.  Do a search for WordPress plugins and you will see what I mean!

The reason why CommentLuv was created was to grow the blogging community and to encourage interaction between bloggers.

How does CommentLuv work?

When you have CommentLuv enabled on a blog, the check box and CommentLuv icon is activated on every blog post.  When a visitor leaves a comment on one of my blog posts, the plugin automatically goes out and searches their blog for the latest post. If it finds one, it automatically adds a titled link at the end of the comment which links back to their post and looks like this:

See at the end of the comment it says “Roland Leveille recently posted….Save Money By Changing Habits”

The sentence that is in blue is the link to his blog, the last post he had made when he posted this comment.  When someone else see’s it, if it peeks their interest they’ll click on it and so they can see what it’s about. It’s a win-win situation for both the blogger and the reader.

I know many people might not like the idea their readers being able to go to other’s sites…You just have to be sure to keep posting things that will keep them coming back for more!

We all love getting those emails that say “You’ve got money!‏”.  You know you get a smile on your face as the little voice in your head whispers Ka-Ching!  It’s a great feeling…but I can top it.  Now, some of you might know exactly what I am talking about.  Those of you who do, take a quick moment and give yourself a pat on the back.  For the rest of you who are still feeling a little lost, pay attention as I fill you in on this.

It is almost 2012.  We use our cell phones for everything under the sun, right?  So why don’t you have your cell phone hooked up to your paypal account?  If you haven’t done so yet, let me go over the wonders of  Texting with PayPal.

By connecting your cell phone number you can securely access and manage your account wherever you go. PayPal Mobile lets you use your mobile phone to:

• View past transactions

How cool is that??  I love it when one of my kids yell “Hey Mom, you just got a text from Paypal”, even they smile when they see who it’s from!  Another reason I like having my cell phone connected with PayPal is that I can easily send money to family and friends without having to be in front of a computer.  Anything that makes my life easier, I am ALL OVER IT!  If you have a smart phone, be sure to download the Paypal App.

Send a text to 729725 (PAYPAL). Include the words getand from, and then specify the amount and the phone number of the person you’re requesting money from. You can even enter several phone numbers – just separate them with a comma.

If you are wanting to pump up your SEO and reach the top, you should definitely be using videos.  There are many ways you can use videos to do this, from video tutorials to a full “about us” video that explains who you are and what your company is all about.  Take a look to see what  your competition is using or what others in your same field in another state or town have for their sites. Don’t forget to make it your own!

Here is a good video put out by Google that will teach you the basics of getting your youtube video’s to rank high in Google search.

Just throwing video up into youtube will not guarantee to you top the search engine result pages and according to Google, your video’s will only rank well if all factors are present including content quality and hits and ratings.

According to google, there are more than 450 million PDF documents on the Internet.  The PDF file format was originally created by Adobe somewhere in the early 1990′s and has overcome the once popular .doc or DOC format.

Why are PDF Files so Popular?

There are several reasons why PDF files are so popular.  Usually the PDF files are smaller in size than the original source document and they also can be easily preserved in the original formatting.  Another great thing is that you can open a PDF file, that was created using a Windows PC, on a Mac or a Linux machine and your document will still look the same everywhere.

Another thing that people like about the PDF file is that unlike Word and other popular document formats, the contents of the file cannot be changed or modified easily. Yet the biggest advantage is that you can view PDF files on almost any computer (or mobile phone) using the web browser or with the help of free software like Adobe Acrobat Reader or Open Office.

Can We Edit PDF Files?

I know I just wrote above that not being able to change them is what makes PDF Files so great, but it is 2011, right?  :)   PDF Files by default are “read only”,  but there are ways by which you can edit certain elements* of a PDF document for free without requiring the source files or any of the commercial PDF editing tools.

* If you are looking to manipulate the PDF file structure itself like rearranging pages or merging multiple PDFs into one, please refer to the Adobe PDF Guide. This post is here to help you edit or to be able to fill in the file without using Adobe Acrobat.

Here are the ways you can edit PDF Files:

1. Online PDF Editor for Basic Tasks.

There are situations when you’ll need to make only minor changes in a PDF file. For instance, you want to hide your personal phone number from a PDF file before posting it on the web.

You can perform such edits pretty easily with PDF Escape.  With PDF Escape, you can hide parts of a PDF file using the whiteout tool or add annotations with the help of custom shapes, arrows, text boxes and sticky notes. You can also add hyperlinks to other PDF pages or Web documents.

2. Edit PDF Metadata (Author, PDF Title, etc.)

If you would like to edit the meta-data associated with a PDF document, you will want to check out Becy PDFMetaEdit. It’s a free utility that can help you edit details like the PDF document title, author name, creation data, keywords, etc. of any PDF file.

This tool can also be used for encrypting PDF documents such that only users who know the password can read the contents of your PDF files. And since this PDF metadata  bookmarks editor can be executed from the command line, you can use it to update information in multiple PDF files in a batch.

TIP: If you are planning to post your PDF files on the web, you should consider adding proper metadata to all the files as that will help improve the organic rankings of your PDF files in Google search results.

3. Using WORD to Edit Text in a PDF File

You can also use WORD to edit the text in a PDF file if you want to edit large amounts of text in a PDF file but don’t have access to the source documents. All you have to do is convert the PDF file into an editable Word document or an Excel spreadsheet depending on the contents of the PDF.

Then edit these converted PDFs in Microsoft Office (or Google Docs) and export the modified files back into PDF format.

Social media’s popularity continues to grow, connecting people with just about everything from what they watch to what they buy.  Did you know that the value of the time consumers spend online and on social networks and blogs continues to grow.  It is most visible through the influence on purchase decisions. For example; 60 percent of people who use three or more digital means of research for product purchases learned about a specific brand or retailer from a social networking site. My family and I research things before we make our purchases, don’t you?  One phrase you constantly hear around our house is “Google it!”.

5. Other social networking sites/forums. With new places popping up every day, it’s hard to keep up with them all. I bet if I asked 25 different marketers, I’d get different answers to their top spots.  Which ever you chose, make them work for you.  Staying active with a few is better than being non-active but a member of them all. It is wise to join them, fill out your profile and let others know that you are most active or can be found at ______ (<—fill in the blank to let them know where to find you).  Don’t forget to leave your contact details like skype, your cell, google voice phone number or other voice messaging service, email address, ect. so they have some way of connecting with you!

Before I close this post, I’d like to share one more thing. For me,it’s one tool I constantly recommend to everyone online – marketers or not – is skype. Do you know the number one reason that stops people from getting what they want?

It’s lack of Focus. People who focus on what they want, prosper. Those who don’t, struggle.

Whatever you want in the years ahead, The Power of Focus can help you achieve it. Plain and simple.

Why?  Focus leads to clarity, which our brain absolutely loves. Clarity means you know exactly what you want.  Here, let me give you an example.  You want to make a lot of money.  Instead of just saying;  ”I want to make a whole lot of money” you should say “I want to earn $25,000 per month in net profits by September 2012″.   The more specific and clearer you are, the better your brain will find ways to achieving it.

Think about it. “A lot of money” is very vague.  How much is a lot of money? $1,000? $10,000? $100,000? $1,000,000?  When you really focus on what you want, your brain will find ways to focus on the most important tasks that you need to do in order to achieve your goals. You then focus in doing these important tasks and ignore the rest.  It’s amazing what our brain can do if we set things up correctly!

Just remember that Less is more.  By having multiple goals it spreads out your focus, and makes it less likely that you’ll complete any of the goals.  I am not saying that it’s not possible, it’s just  much more difficult.

You also need to remind yourself DAILY what your goals are. You can’t just think about your goals, you should write them down and also say them out loud.  Doing this will force you to give deeper and more meaningful thoughts about your goals, and hence provide your brain with clearer and more specific goals. DAILY is the keyword here.  If it’s important, make it BE important!
